Why would you wait until the end of the season to RS him?
When you R/S a SR their WE will drop to 1. Waiting until the last game of the season is a loophole you can use to R/S a senior and prevent his WE from going to 1 for the entire season-coaches will do this if they still have growth left.
I don't know if the OP was referring to a SR or not but if he was completely off of the depth chart I'm really surprised he came into the game. As the previous poster said, if you want to R/S someone (that isn't a SR) you should do it prior to the first game of the season to prevent this from happening.
Oh I thought the WE drop applied to all players, not just seniors. If an underclassmen is redshirted there won't be a large drop in WE?
Depends on the WE. I RS'ed a freshman on one team who had a WE in the 90's, and he took no hit. I RS'ed a freshman on another team who had a WE of 37, and he immediately dropped to 17. I removed the RS and it went right back up to 37.
Not exactly correct.
Starting WE doesn't impact whether or not a player will take a RS happily. I don't believe there is any correlation.
But yes, some players will show a small decrease in WE while others will show nothing. Some players (typically non FR) will show a HUGE loss of WE.
If during recruiting you send the "inform of RS" and they sign with you then they will take the RS without complaint. Even JUCOs.
