My Aurora team got beat 34. My team was 644 and the team I was playing was 648. I was fine losing but by 34. I don't get it

Overall rating doesn't really mean anything. There are so many other factors that go into a team.

totally understand that. I'm just saying the gap in talent wasn't the issue

step one to comparison would be to recalculate totals without dur, stam and WE

but even with that adjustment, the totals dont do a good job of measuring ability

1) Running press with 10 players against a really good FB/FCP team = slowdown all the way (and the fact he had more ATH, SP, and DEF reinforces slowdown). Otherwise you'll get fatigued which leads to foul trouble, which leads to more fatigue, etc.
2) Below average team passing against a good pressing team led to 26 TOs.
3) Don't look at overall team ratings as they don't mean much. Look at key categories (especially at D3) like ath, sp, def, and st (especially when running/playing press).

Darnoc makes good points. Benis would probably be good to ask, since he game planned against you.

Fatigued killed you in that game.

Yup Darnoc and TJ are correct.

I saw that you were running press and only played 10 guys. Your guys did have good ST but I knew that wasn't going to be enough so I went uptempo with FB/Press and just basically tried to run you down. I noticed in your previous PBPs that your bigs were getting especially tired even in games that were just normal tempo.

One thing I'd point out - I was surprised a little by how few 3s you took on the season. You had several players with pretty high PER but they didn't shoot all that many 3s.

Finally, I did have a big advantage in the BH/Pass for guards. Your best Pass was 62, 57, 56, 55. Mine was 78, 73, 64, 61.

You definitely have a good team. You just had a nightmare matchup with an uptempo FB/Press team.

Overall ratings are misleading. Best teams are teams with highest average ATH, SPD, DEF

The problem with overall ratings is that it averages the players who are playing 25 minutes a game in with the players who are playing 5 minutes a game, and treats them as if they are getting equal playing time. That distorts the overall ratings.

What you want to do to get a more accurate view of team ratings is to pro-rate each players rating by minutes played.

And even after you do that, all the other comments above still apply. You're just applying them against a more accurate baseline of ratings.
