2nd Session Recruiting Question Topic

Let's say hypothetically there's a recruit with a late preference -- call him Mr. X. Team A has no open schollys but expects at least 1 EE, so it puts effort into Mr. X such that at the end of recruiting session 1, it is at very high. Team B has multiple open schollys, and puts enough effort into Mr. X so that it is also at very high at the end of session 1. After the season, Team A gets lucky, and has no EEs, so it has no open schollys going into session 2.

Assuming that no third team comes into the picture (which is a rather large assumption), what -- if anything -- does Team B have to do to sign the player? Will Team A (who has no open schollys) get automatically knocked down to moderate? Or is this a situation where Team A and Team B both continue to show very high, but it is physically impossible for Mr. X to sign with Team A? I am assuming that Team B doesn't actually have to do anything to knock Team A off of Mr. X (since he can't sign with Team A anyway), but any guidance here would be much appreciated.

Both teams remain at VH.

As long as Team B is still High or VH when the recruit 'decides' to sign, he will automatically go to the only team that has open schollies. He will not 'wait' until the end of recruiting to make a decision.

The logic goes
1) dice roll for if a recruit decides to sign that cycle (based upon his signing preference)
2) dice roll for chosen team if they meet the qualifications of having at least 1 opening and are High or VH (and has offered). If only 1 team meets those qualifications then no dice roll.

Additionally,

If Team A stays at VH and pushed Team B down to Moderate (or lower), the recruit won't sign until after recruiting is over. So after the very last cycle it will look for teams that have offered a scholly and have openings and then take the highest interest level (if not VH/H). So even if Team B is moderate, the recruit will sign with them if they CAN'T sign with Team A (due to no openings or no scholly offer).

A season or two ago I "lost" a guy where I was 69/VH at the end and other guy was 31/H. All my scholies were taken so my true chances were 0, but the game didn't recalibrate the final odds or interest column for that.

I had something similar happen in the first session in Naismith. I had no open scholarships but found a guy I wanted. I used all my AP and spent all of my recruiting budget trying to keep a SIM at moderate or lower because the guy had an "end of period 1" preference. The guy signed with the SIM team even though I was 72%/VH and the SIM was 28%/H.

Interesting that the preference came into play there.

My battle ended toward the end of session 2, but not at the very last cycle, for what that's worth.

Add it to the bug list for Seble to fix.
