Anyone know if doubling two players is an OK strat?

Best way to answer your question is 'it depends'.

I once faced two elite players that were shooting fairly frequently the 3 but were the only perimeter shooters, I went on a gamble here to double team both of them and -5 Takeaway Inside on position and lost that game by fluke of bad luck by like 2 or 3 points, but it was much better than the spread of -15 or -20 I came in, so I think it was effective.

I would say it's rare but there can be a case if the rest of the players are total garbage.

As in "always"?

Can't be a sound strategy. In theory, you're creating a 3 on 1 situation.

It can work. Not a strategy you would normally use, but if the opposition has the right mix of player attributes, I've found it to be effective in limited situations. In the wrong situations, it can be quite harmful, though.

Ive used it successfully in the NT a few times against better opponents so to say, when they have one player who will score about 20 pts a game and the rest at or under 10 pts a game it can be very effective but it also might depend on what D your running , i run Man to Man for example. i know it works for me when i need it i dont do it very often maybe 1 time every other year

Good question, I always double team when the team relies on one player to do a majority amount of the scoring. Usually said player has 95+ PER and will be almost unstoppable regardless.. not sure whether it helps or not

I've used it in cases where the other team had 2 players that exclusively scored and everyone else was just window dressing.

Will use it at times where the other team has one scorer in their starting lineup and the other big scorer is coming off the bench.

Double teaming 2nd teamers is a very effective strategy that is way under used!

It is but not two starters imo. It's better to go double teamed and if leading scorer on starters. I rarely do that for inside threats, I am more enclined to do it for sf, slashers or perimeter players.
