Div 2 Sign of Ineligible Player Topic

I just moved up from Div. 3 to Div. 2 and I did not have a grasp on signing ineligble players; (I also didn't realize I was recruiting one). Anyways an ineligble player signed with my Div 2 team. Then I got a message from my Athletic Director, kinda "scolding me" and suggesting he's certain the kid will have to play in Junior College instead of for us.

Now what happens? Do I have any rights to that prospect if he can't play this year and goes to play JC?
Do I lose the scholarship or should I try and sign another?

Just what does happen now?

After recruiting ends the kid will decide if he will come to you or go JUCO.

If he comes to your school, he sits out the whole year and cannot practice (put 90 minutes into SH).

If he goes JUCO, you get some credit (1/4?) of what you put in this year for next year. If you spent more than a little he'll show up as considering you from the get go.

Follow up Q... if I want a recruit that is showing VH on considering another school from the onset of this season's recruiting, that school is only getting 1/4 the credit from last season's recruiting?

As in, hopping aboard that battle train is not a bad idea?

yes and yes (usually)

Will the DII school that got the rollover credit be able to sign the prospect in the 1st recruiting session if he's projected DI?

No. The same signing criteria applies even if there is rollover credit.
