Has anybody ever tried playing a stretch 4 on here? I botched the timing of my home camp and most of what would have been my interior targets were already spoken for by the time the camp ran. I should sign a guy today who is athletic enough to be a good defensive PF regardless, probably too slow to play SF, and he'll be a good, perhaps great, PER. Has anybody had experience with a player like that on this game?

I've tried similar tactics. The sim wasn't flexible enough (in my opinion) to give me the plusses I had hoped to gain, but did make me pay for interior defense and rebounding.

Offensively it's a fine strategy but you have to be careful not to ignore defense and rebounding.

I think rebounding is undervalued in the game. Rebounding makes the difference between a good team and a great team.

If you have perimeter rebounding you could get away with it. Otherwise, nah.

I'm a HUGE fan of the stretch 4, have had a couple POYs who played a stretch 4. If you can have them shoot four-five 3s per game, it has a very positive impact on your offense.

I used this guy in D2 a few seasons back. He came in as a SF, but I used him at PF. 92 PER and 84 REB ratings. He made 99 3's his senior season and I think most games he was set to +1. Also 8.2 rebounds a game.

Thanks for the replies. Glad to hear there's been some success with it. This dude should be a great defender, but his rebounding will probably be meh. So I'll have to make sure to have a couple of good rebounders around him by the time he plays real minutes.

I should have mentioned, this is D-II, and this guy should be in the 80's for ATH, 50ish SPD, mid-50's REB, 85+ DEF, 70+ PER, 80+ PAS. So my guy will be slower but a better athlete than Ahern, way better defender, BH and passer, not as good a rebounder. He's green for PER, so who knows if that means 70, 100 or somewhere in the middle.

And TKimble, I'm usually pretty good at getting my better shooters to keep chucking from deep.

Funny thing about this thread, I just glanced back at my records page and I forgot I actually used this guy pretty effectively as a stretch big, though it was mainly as a bench player and I think he played some 3 also:

IMO, you can survive bad REB at the 4 but not bad defense. Also, don't forget about his block score. With 80 ATH and 80 DEF if he has atleast 50 BLOCK he'll be an okay defender. If it's less than that it becomes an issue.

Gotcha - he's green at 19 so he'll be at least very close to 50.

He has a low WE so it'll take a little while to get him around, but my bigs depth is good right now and I'm planning to redshirt him, so I should be able to bring him along slowly.
