A cycle ago I took over a new D2 team in Wooden. I was looking for a specific system and middle of the country, and really didn't look at much else. The team showed five open slots.

What I overlooked was that the previous coach had apparently gone insane his last couple days and signed three guys in the first period who are basically unplayable. I mean ath/def in the 20's and will never go above 50 if I kept them. I was at least comforted by the thing in the 'guide to 3.0' that says, "when you cut a player you didn't sign, you get full resources immediately".

At some point I noticed that when I opened these players up, their profile said, "signed by deroches", even though that wasn't the case.

No problem, I sucked it up, and played a nine-man team last season. Today was my first opportunity to cut them, and I did. And of course, I didn't get any additional resources.

I sent a ticket asking about the situation, and I was pleased to receive a very quick reply. They confirmed my fears - these players are considered to be recruited by me, so no soup and eggroll for me. Caveat Emptor.

They did say it's something on their list of possible future revisions.

So now I know there is something else to check when selecting a new team - check the guys already signed!

Totally the first thing to check; it’s unfortunate that he seemed to pack it in and railroad the team.

SIM recruits signed during part one recruiting are signed by "you" for all intents and purposes. You are stuck unless you can plead with CS to change your team. Classic mistake in 3.0....sounds semi fatal.

Deroaches is him! He took on a team that SIM signed recruits during part one. They by virtue of programming flaw become his recruits, and he will suffer penalties to cut in the future! Sucks big time. Best chance is to BEG the guys in CS to revert back to his old team. Slim chance, but otherwise he is crocked!

For those who change teams, that should ALWAYS be the first thing you check...Sim recruits in Part One. Is really a flaw I hope they get rid of....I learned the same mistake also the hard way. Trust me, I will not accidently do it again.

Hopefully it will be a hick up for you. If not, change teams again at roll over if you find another you qualify for.

Everyone should send a ticket when it happens, it really is inexcusable that this bug, known coming out of beta, has not been fixed yet. That said, it’s irritating, but by no means even close to fatal. Carry a couple extra guys for a year, or cut them and sign a juco or two, or take walkons, and get the resources one year later, if that’s important to you. Lots of options.

But yeah, they should definitely be harassed until they fix it. This is right up there with the considering list and the champions page, in terms of obvious bugs that really shouldn’t require much labor to fix.
