Random recruit names or poor taste??? Topic

I would assume that all the recruit name generation is automated and random, but as someone who lives a couple towns over from Sandy Hook, I think this is in pretty poor taste: https://www.whatifsports.com/hd/RecruitProfile/Ratings.aspx?rid=4231949

I would think they have some kid of filter to make sure we don't get any Adolf Hitlers or Joseph Stalins, but apparently not--either that or someone at WIS thinks it hilarious to name recruits after psychotic murderers who target innocent children. Either way, I'm unamused.

Random first names from countries are paired with random last names. Are black and whites names different? I don't think so.

I'm guessing it's a random and unfortunate coincidence.

I'm also not far from Sandy Hook (about an hour away).

I just saw this and was searching for the name thread. What are the odds those two names would match up

Assuming Lanza is in the overall database WIS pulls from (I kind of doubt Hitler or Stalin are, for whatever that is worth), the odds are 100% that the two would match up eventually, given enough seasons.

Send ticket it's random. I still wish I would get a T-Bone name on one of my teams

The next Hitler or Stalin I see in HD will be the first one. So yeah, there actually probably is a filter.

Good golly, settle down Beavis.

Even when it was under Fox, WIS has always been a lightly staffed small business. There's always been weirdness in the randomized names and there always will be. Go ahead and quietly submit a ticket, that's reasonable, but your suggestion WIS would have done this on purpose is beyond ridiculous.

Back when Customer Service had a sense of humor (not sure about the new guys), I asked them to give one of my Oberlin players, who already had my first name, my last name. Sure enough, my name is listed in the Oberlin record books, but haven't seen that last name show up in the recruiting database.

If you were personally affected by the massacre at Sandy Hook like I, and so many people I know, you might understand. Telling me to "settle down Beavis" just shows your complete lack of compassion and empathy. Seeing as how I have never seen another "Lanza" in the game in my 100+ seasons (much like you have never seen a Hitler or Stalin) never mind one the perfectly matches the name of one of the most deranged murderers in our nations history, I think it is perfectly reasonable to question how he got in there. Jeebus man, the spineless f**ker gunned down little kids. Little kids.

WIS has removed offensive and disturbing names already i would guess. Like, i haven't ever seen Manson or Dahmer. It'd be easy enough for them to remove Lanza too, and the psychotic Las Vegas guy also.
12/23/2017 4:52 PM
I guess I should consider myself fortunate that there isn't a fake name in a fake name that would disturb me.
