Not a huge deal but I was curious what high level D1 coaches think about my potential line up for next season. Here's my team NMSU. My strength is definitely in guards and SF with some weak bigs.

I was initially thinking:
PG: Krause
SG: Sterling
SF: Baity
PF: Baxter
C: Wheeler

This would give me a nice balanced lineup with a little scoring off the bench in johannsen but the bulk would be from starters.

Another thought would be to run
PG: Krause
SG: Johannsen
SF: Sterling
PF: Baity
C: Wheeler

This would be low Reb but balls out on ATH/Def with the starters running 99/100, 91/99, 100/99, 100/94, 91/91. I'd also have basically no bench scoring. I'm wondering how effective Baity would be at PF as basically a stretch 4. I'm worried that maybe his Speed is wasted though.

Last option would be
PG: Krause
SG: Johannsen
SF: Baity
PF: Baxter
C: Wheeler

This would bring Sterling off the bench for scoring and is probably most balanced with best IQs starting. Some chump coach recommended I do this but I wanted to see what everyone else thought.

This is a tough one, and I probably still fall under the category of "chump coach" at D1, but #3 looks best to me. Agree with all options that Krause and Wheeler are locked in at the PG and C spots respectively. I love Johannsen's SP and BH at the SG, and I think Baity with his high PE/SPD and lower REB is better for the SF instead of PF. That leaves your best LP player, Baxter to play PF and at least show a scoring threat down low, so you don't get defenses playing you +3 or worse all the time. And Sterling off the bench is just deadly. Great defender and shooter that no one will be able to plan well against.

Really good looking team Benis. Should be a great year for you in Allen.

I'd love to see what Baity would do as a 4-I think his speed would be a matchup nightmare at that position. I don't worry a ton about bench scoring because it's not all that often all 5 starters are on your bench at the same time. You could also put Baxter as your first backup at the 4 and 5 to negate the bench scoring. I'd do:

4: Baity, (empty), Baxter, Numbers
5: Wheeler, Baxter, Numbers

It's all about the team matchup. I'd put him at the 4 for sure, until you play some stud Big on Duke with 100 LP and 70 speed. That would be ugly.

I think you almost have to play Baity at the 3 because of rebounding. Him at the 3 helps sure that up a bit. It's not like the other 4's rebounding is good but if you have bad rebounding at the 4 and decent rebounding at the 3 you're in better shape than bad at the 4 and 3. I think you are looking at a 3-5 rebound deficit per game (against good teams) with Baity at the 3. If you move him to the 4 it'll be even worse.

Thanks boys, good discussion. I went with the low Reb, heavy ath/def lineup for my 1st exhibition today. Doesn't look like he really set up his lineup but he has some great rebounding. As expected, he beat me by 5 boards.

Oh and Slayter- FYI, I was jk about the chump coach thing. He's pretty decent.
