In the 3rd game, #1 ranked team Adams St. in Allen wins 100-54 and drops to #6 in the rankings. I realize the spread factors in rankings but I can’t imagine they were expected to cover a 73 point spread. Just wow!

Who cares about rankings

Those of us life long mediocre coaches! Maybe you coaches that are continuously successful do not. But for somebody like me that is just making the turning point, from average, to becoming more successful, rankings matter! I know that rankings are just cosmetic. But please believe, when I saw Slippery Rock creep in to that #25 slot, I took a screenshot! We’re not all competing for championships year after year. I’m competing to top my personal bests and to get my first S16 with a team I built from scratch. From there, goals change, and maybe rankings won’t matter to me. But for now, I care! I can’t wait for a day when I can see Slippery Rock with a single digit ranking next to our name.

I feel ya on this, I left my D2 team Northwood a long time ago a year too soon and after non-conf had that single digit ranking under a SIM coach. Also it gets better as the grind in D1 is even more of a fight and satisfying feeling when you even hit the honorable mention portion of the rankings.
