So ive completed 1 year of D1 at FAU. I won my CT and expect to be a top 3 team in my conference next season.

The Sun Belt is a D+ prestige for conference. FAU is a C+ now after my first year.

Im thinking about moving to the WCC which is the best non power conference in phelan at a C+. Is it worth jumping to the WCC and having a little more recruiting power in conf prestige, or would it be smarter to stay put and build my team in this D+ sun belt conf? Keep in mind all teams im qualified for would be a "step Backwards" likely falling to a c- prestige team.

My ultimate goal here is to be able to recruit good enough to make a final 4 or elite 8 run down the road.

Thoughts?

I cant address your actual question, but move to Summit League instead, only slightly behind WCC and 7 Human coaches...working our way up.

I wouldn't look at your next job opportunity in the case of conference prestige but instead look at going to a school with a better baseline prestige. FAU has a baseline prestige of D which means the higher the climb in prestige the tougher it will be to keep climbing. However it will be easier to drop prestige with 1 bad season. The school naturally gravitates to a D prestige. So if you are looking for a move to WCC below are the baseline prestige's for those schools.

B = Gonzaga
C = Pepperdine
C = Portland
C = San Francisco
C = Santa Clara
C = Loyola Marymount
C = Nevada
C = San Jose St.
D+= Grambling St.
D+= Lipscomb
D+= San Diego
D+= Boise St.

Ultimately I would shoot for a C or better baseline as that school could easily vault you into a Big6 school if that is eventually a goal.

I was about to post the same thing. This is good advice.

I never knew baseline prestiges were a thing. Great advice, much appreciated.

Come join us in the Mountain West! I don't have a good sales pitch for it, but it'd be fun to have more user coaches in the conference.

If your goal is a Final Four then I highly recommend you move to a team with better baseline prestige. Making it with a D baseline team is pretty uncommon. Only about a dozen coaches have done it across all worlds I think.

I second this! Mountain West in Phelan right now is on the rise. Several coaches getting settled in. Should be really fun. Its a good middle of the road conference. Join us!

So myself and 3 others plan to take over the A10 in the next few seasons. It was a group decision so look out MWC we coming for ya.

Which is why I chose to take the St. Louis job.

Sweet, we can eventually set up a non-con challenge every year. MW vs A10. Sounds fun!
