Uh, the dude nailing the threes was double-teamed. Plus +5 doesn't defend a full court shot.
LMAO. Did you bother to read the pbp? I wasn't talking about the full court shot.

There was no double team on the guy, according to the pbp. It's possible playing -2 didn't allow the player that was supposed to double to get there in time. It's not a bad strategy for most of the game, but once you're up a certain amount of points with 1-3 minutes left or more, unless you can see in the pbp of their other games that might suggest they don't take 3's, when losing in the last few minutes of the game, it's best to go with a + defense in that situation. Only other circumstance that you play -2 is if you have a weak rebounding team, allowing two 3 point attempts at +2 where they get the offensive rebound could be more damaging as if they were to play a negative defense, while holding the other team to just one shot.
LMAO. Did you bother reading the initial post?

While I agree with your point, the OP said the player was doubled. Are you implying that he's lying?
Did you read my post?lmao

Nobody doubts that the double team settings were in place. What I'm implying is just because you set it to DT a player, doesn't mean the DT is always going to work. That's all. But to be fair, I'm not 100% sure that if a DT is "on" that it's always listed in the pbp. It never does for fcp.

It's also misleading because you can't determine the effectiveness of a DT or if a player is just having a off shooting night.
Im pretty sure ive seen somewhere on the site (not the forums) that DT doesnt do anything in FCP, thus PBP not showing it. Can someone verify this?
thats correct
DT does not do anything when full court pressing.
but just to be clear, no one wsa fcp in this case

eaglesfan... is this your analysis of double teams in real life... or in HD? thats an interesting analysis but i havent heard anyone suggest it works that way.
Im not saying youre not right... cause it is good logic. but havent heard that before.

btw... congrats on your birds today
Thanks oldave. Not a mathematical formula person or computer programmer. Just a big sports fan.

Based it on years of watching sports and playing sports video games. Play one took six seconds from rebound to basket on the other end. Play two was in bounded and took two seconds. Play those out with people or in video games and it would turn out like I said. Catch the ball and dribble for a while and you can forget getting the assist even if you don't go anywhere. Catch the ball and shoot ding! ding! ding! The assist is given.
that definitely makes alot of sense..
but, the million dollar question is... does the HD sim think that way?
I have many times fallen into the trap of thinking in terms of what would be logical in real life.
now certainly there are many times when the sim does behave like you would think. but theres also times when it doesnt..

in this case, the practical application of this would seem to be that uptempo and or fastbreak offense might limit the effectiveness of an opponents doubleteam. again, that kinda makes sense but havent ever seen anything to indicate HD works that way. or maybe im just slow learner.
Yeah I don't think it really works that way either.

Here's an example.

End of game with 6 seconds left on the inbound. My Center lays it in with no time remaining for the win. No way that dude was taking it from coast to coast for the unassisted bucket.
