have been coaching a team in D3 and decided to take on another team in D2, I didn't want to lose my D3 team but I have. I now have my new D2 team but want to know why I lost my D3 team. Did I do something wrong or am I not allowed to have 2 teams in same world? Can I still get my old team back this season? When I go to jobs it only shows D1 schools of which I'm not qualified . If nobody picks up my old team I could get them back next year but not sure at that point I'd want to . My guess is that I did something wrong. For future reference how do you maintain your current team and apply for another ?

You are correct -- you aren't allowed two teams in the same world. You left one job to take a new one, in a higher division. You'll have to join a second world if you want a second team, a third world if you want a third team, and so on.

there are quite a few coaches who do exactly what you are saying... keep their d3 team and also move up. but in order to do it you need to create a second user id.

also, you would have to wait until the new coaches signup period which is probably a couple of days from now.
and it is possible that someone could grab philly bible before then.

the bigger issue is that your d2 team .. hilsdale, is only 600 miles away from philly. the fairplay guidelines say you can have a second team within same world, but hey have to be 1,000 miles apart.

now, as much as i would like that to be the end of it... i will tell you that i suspect there are quite a few users who violate this rule. it does not appear that WIS has any system in place to enforce this 1,000 mile rule. im almost positive they dont check it as a regular course of business. im not sure how they handle it if a fellow user reports to them that you are breaking the 1,000 mile rule. i assume they make you change when it is pointed out. of course, you could also deny the second id is you, possibly saying it is your brother or dad in case it is ever questioned why the credit card is the same.

anyway... i would suggest sticking with one team one world. its the right thing to do. i know its hard giving up a d3 team that youve grown attached to, but you'll get over it.

Just go back to your D3 team in wooden and then pick up another team in another world.

Oldave, I thought since I was I was moving up to D2 there would be no FairPlay issues. Never really thought it through until I read your post but most D3 schools are recruiting some of the same D2 players. Your right, one team one world. I'll just stick with Hillsdale and maybe pick up another D3 team in another world. As to Benis's suggestion, I would do exactly that but this year is a huge recruiting year for Philadelphia and the players I was working to get will probably have signed elsewhere leaving me a huge void on my team. Thanks for the advice and clarification of the rules.
