Good player ratings that actually suck Topic

He's actually not a special ML pitcher, although he's not as bad as his ERA has been lately. But I wouldn't pay him $5M, either. While his VsR and control are good and they're the two most important ratings, his pitches, GB/FB, and VsL are mediocre.

In a large enough sample, which given his ST/DUR would be about 4-5 seasons, and if you ran his pitch count at 5/10, he'd have an ERA of about 3.30 in TAC (NL). Given that MikeT23 could pitch to an ERA of about 4.60 in Tacoma, 3.30 in 40-50 innings per season isn't that helpful.

Like these other guys have stated. Lower his pitch count and lower your expectations. As a reliever with a 16 stamina he's not going to pitch many innings and if he comes out and allows a 3 run homer it's going to take 27 innings of perfect pitching to get his era back down to 1. Same league, relief pitcher that "should be better" Octavio Cornejo. Limited innings skew your players stats. He has a 4.5 era but has only allowed 1 run each in 3 of 8 games this season.

Thanks for clearing his ratings and his production up. I guess I'm just seeing things differnet with higher expectations .

Relief pitchers are so tough to read by a stat line.

You could put him in to close or ‘hold’ 9 games where you are up 2-3 runs. He gives up a run a game for 1 inning of pitching and his ERA is 9. But if you won all of those games he still did his job.

Take His outings on a game by game basis and go from there. Then tweak accordingly.
