Question: has anyone received a note from a transfer who is not totally worthless? The one I got today made me post. This kid has all F's and only his work ethic is a D. Wondering if its just me, or if some of you have actually received an acceptable transfer offer.

You have to scout him to find out his real letter grades/ratings. Transfers appear as all Fs until you scout them, even if one was 100 in everything, he'd be all Fs until you scout him.

if they participated in a game the previous season then you can view their rating via the Box Score. I have found a handful of useful transfers.

Thanks indiansrck27, didn't know that, assumed what I saw was what I got. Might scout one if I have spare recruiting $.

No problem.

Definitely combine what Zagz and I both said. The transfer profile will tell you what team he played on, go to that team profile and find the player in a game log and check his ratings out, you wont be able to see his potential though. If he looks interesting to you, scout him to find out what kind of potential he has.

Two things to add to this.....
1) not very important.... but chances are, the transfer left because he didn't play much. When I check the teams box score, I glance for a really high scoring total game to start with. The transfer likely played in a game that was 100-90, and may have sat out games that are 55-45. But that's just to save yourself some possible clicks

2) You can't see his potential in color format. But you can read between the lines. The categories that he had high growth in, probably have more growth left. Categories that didn't budge are likely red and orange already.

I never use my scouting budget unless i'm pretty sure I'll want them. Its not exact, but you can definitely get enough info to make your decision

I messed up recruiting with my D3 team in Smith last season. I was looking at probably two walk ons for this season. Instead, I came across 2 senior transfers who I signed. They're still #11 and #12 on my roster, but I at least feel OK with giving them some minutes, which I never have done with walk ons.

I thought I was one of the few that knew about the tactic about getting the tranfer's ratings from previous box scores. I'm not even sure it's an intended part of the game, mostly because once they transfer, they are gone from the roster.

You can still make an educated guess, even though it doesn't list the potential of the player, if you go to ratings history, you can get somewhat of an idea of how that player will end up, based on his single season improvement and WE.

It's definitely on the very short list of unintended consequences that actually helps you.
