Well, I got destroyed anyway.

It wasn’t my intention to start some existential debate.

I think it’s just as interesting to explore individual matchups as it would have been to get into what would “thoeretically” be the best lineup (zone, of course).

Anyway, way to ruin the fun, you know who you are.
That's what you get for listening to zorzi.

i agree with most of what has been said above... on both sides.

i agree with dasher that it just doesnt feel like its in the spirit of the game
i agree with topdogg that I would LOVE to have a thread like this about my team. agree i might act angry about it but on the inside id be smiling.

and in the end i really dont think its that big of a deal.

i could be wrong, but i think my gboro team did really well against dickinson for a bunch of years. we were a zone team and i think i usually went 2-3 -3 no adjust.

interesting idea to play zone even if thats not your primary D.

that takes me back to IBA season 12.
Heidelburg. coach branmarr24 decided to play zone but not practice it at all.
made it all the way to the NC game and lost.
I called them the Fzoners.

i can remember that stuff but ill probably forgot to pick up the milk on the way home tonight

It's actually worked on a few occasions for us as an underdog against another team that tries to get to the line often and tries to take everything inside. First time I attempted it, it was during Phelan season 68, D-3, in the Final 4. We ended up beating a double digit favorite Endicott team and think we gave them their first loss(or second) of the season.

Wow hahaha. This thread is insane. I'm in conference with him and the only definitive answer I can provide is...I've found that scoring more points than his team generally works.

It's not that hard. You stop him from doing what he does.

He forces a bunch of turnovers with super ATH super DEF press. And he goes to the foul line 30+ times a game with all -2 3pt settings.

So you start with good athletic guards that don't turn the ball over. My PG was 61ath 78bh 85pass. Both wings were 60+ ath and 70ish bh. So his press didn't force turnovers.

Then I played -1 in my press/zone. That keeps your defenders from committing fouls and allowing him to get to the foul line. It also forces quite a few turnovers because his ball skills are not usually that good since he sells out for defense.
