Best record not to make NT Topic

Saw Butler (26-1) in Smith miss the NT as one of the last four out. Thought my Baylor team might face them as a 15-16 seed so I was watching them. Hadn't seen/noticed a team with that many wins miss the tourney before today. What is the best record you have seen of a team missing the NT?

I don't think a better record than 26-1 is possible while missing the NT! That's kind of crazy. That SOS must have been brutally bad.

Technically speaking, you could get to 28-1 by going undefeated until the conference title game and then losing, but you'd have to almost be scheduling your non-conference to intentionally miss the post-season while playing in the most craptacular conference ever. And even then I'm not sure if mathematically if you could conjure the level of suck needed to make it happen.

It was an epically bad schedule. One game against a human all season and an SOS of 303.

I am pretty sure this was a record or at least ties a record. The best I had seen before this was three losses.

There was one 28-1 team that didn't make the postseason in D-3, this happened a while back, before 2010. I don't recall the name of the team, but remember the coach of that team ranting on here.

Whats more puzzling to me is Air Force is ranked #1...but they somehow got a 2 seed, has that ever happened in real life?

Slider has a great team at Butler, and beat me in overtime at Hinkle in our only matchup. And he could run the PIT table. He had a ton of upperclassmen so he could've scheduled much tougher in non-conf.

Our Horizon Conference has been very weak for years and it crushes us in the Projection Report. i think we've only had 1 total at-large bid in my 7 Horizon seasons. This year my Marquette team got a lucky win over the Hoyas, who shot 48% from the line. I then dropped 3 super close non-conf games against great Smith teams (Florida, Providence and Dayton), which forced me to have to win the CT for a bid.

Would love to get some humans to join us and stack the conference. I plan on staying at Marquette for a long time, but the sucky Horizon sims leave me and Silder no margin for error.

yeah, but that non-conference schedule, my god

Have faced one loss teams in the PIT many times. I suppose there are one loss teams that lose in the early rounds of the CT, with bad SOS that never make either tournament.
