In general, it doesn’t work like that. The system will evaluate your player based on attributes, not what you call him.
It’s possible that changing position may keep them away from awards, and that in turn could very slightly alter draft position and EE probability. Honestly, I’ve not looked that close at anyone who has tried it, to see if their guy made All-conference or All-American teams. I doubt it though, because if you play a SG at PG, he can still win awards, but at his listed position, not the position he played.

This is 100% accurate. A few seasons ago I had a Soph PF that was a stud in every regard, but being a Soph started the season as "likely staying" and in the 60's on the big board. As his speed/reb/def improved, the endive was having a hard time deciding which position he ranked best in (he was top 10 for C, but the field for PF and SF was rich that year so he wasn't ranked as high). During the course of the season, every few games he would jump up to top 20 on the big board, and his status would change to "on the fence" and a couple times "likely going", then then a game or two later he would drop back down to 50-60 and "Likely staying." This went on all year. I suspect there was another player ranked top 10 at C who's ratings were improving at a different rate, and kept bumping him in and out of the top 10 at that position. It was weird and the only time I have seen that kind of constant jumping (probably moved up and down the chart like that 8 times over the season), but showed me that the engine doesn't give a hoot what the label is next to a players name, only how the rank compared to other players with comparable ratings.
