Is it better to have a 1 LP and 99 PER player or a 50 LP and 50 PER player?

Guard- 99 Per
Big - 50/50

Always better to have 99/1. Guard or Big.

Generally speaking, I think the 99/1 guy will always be better. I wonder how much ath and speed come into play when using the secondary attribute. I honestly don't know.

For bigs, I don't really value PER much until high D1. Kinda the opposite of Benis but I would take a 99/1 big every day of the week over the 50/50 guy.

I actually like LP alot for guards, and it doesn't need to be that high, but I would rather have the 99/1 guards (with good speed) than a 50/50 but I would probably take a 70/30 and would certainly take a 80/40 guy if they had decent ATH and FT.

I can't imagine a Center with 1 LP would be that good of a scorer even with 99 Per. But I'd love to see some examples if anyone has any.

In the bigger picture it seems that players who are REALLY strong in a few attributes are more productive that the player that has medium type numbers across the board. As I recruit, there seems to be more competition for the 99/1 type player than the evenly distributed player. I play in D3 which may be part of the answer. I recall having a player like this:

who was the highest overall rated player in the conference, but really didn't amount to much and rarely had big games/performances.

Wow. That guy is amazingly average at everything. Personally, I wouldn't even start him on a D3 team (if it was NT caliber). His ATH/DEF are too low and he doesn't have any other redeeming qualities to make up for it. He is so average.

Yep, exactly Wales. What seemed to me to be a good D3 player turned out to be a dud. My learning curve is slowly moving up...

Yea his overall was only high because he had good WE, DUR, and STA. Other than that he was pretty bad.

Everybody else was assuming the 99 to be in the relevant stat. 1 LP/99 Per for a big would be bizarre.

A 99 PER post player would be an outstanding scorer at D3. If his speed and BH were above 30 I think he would average 20 points a game.

This guy is not exactly 1 LP/99 PER, but he's a similar player to what you guys may be discussing here. His LP was maxed when I recruited him basically. And his PER was super low but never stopped growing.

He became a really good scorer his senior season. But I didn't do all that well with him early in his career. (He was also listed as a PF when I recruited him)

I feel the same way about LP on guards. My guy only maxed out at 74 his senior year, but was the all time school leader in points and FG% on a NT team.
