Pulled from HD recruiting guide page. I’m not sure what values are used for each preference level.
  • Strong Defense (credit is adjusted based on the school's defensive performance in the current season, which is determined using points allowed per possession)

I’ve been tracking most of my preferences since 3.0 was released (checking changes after every game) and for the defense preference, use the following formula to calculate points allowed per possession (although previously someone pointed out WIS might be using a slightly different formula, I've been tracking changeovers using this one):

OFGA + 0.44 x OFTA – OREB + OTO
OPTS

Where OFGA = Opponents FG attempts
OFTA = Opponents FT attempts
OREB = Opponents Offensive Rebounds
OTO = Opponents Turnovers
OPTS = Opponents Total Points scored

Just go to any team’s roster, click on the Stats tab, click on Totals for Viewing and look at the bottom line and use the values found there.
For defense, Very Good starts somewhere between 82.8 and 81.6 while the boundary for Good is approx. 95.1

“somewhere between 82.8 and 81.6 while the boundary for Good is approx. 95.1”

This is per 100 possessions, right?

Also, you’re dividing the points by the possessions, right? Not the other way around. Just trying to put this in terms of points per possession, for clarity.

Yes I guess that's correct that in my spreadsheet, I'm just showing it as a percentage and the numbers I quoted there are percentage.
