Who is your 2B, 3B, CF? Briefly defend your answer.

My opinion probably means nothing, and rightly so, but I’d put C at CF, A at 2B, and B at 3B. Starting with B, this guy is the worst fielder, and 3B takes less fielding skills then CF and 2B. C is a good fielder at 2B and CF, so I’ll give it to the position that I’ve heard is more valuable, CF. 2B is the leftover of the bunch.

I agree with sportsbulls. But I can't defend that.

C in CF is an absolute no-brainer. The low AA is minimized in the OF (remember that OFs don't make throwing errors in HBD) and low 70s range is just death in CF.

I think you slightly get more value from A's arm at 3B than you do from his glove at 2B, so I'd play A at 3B. You'd pick up a bunch of errors at 2B, but you'get back some of those errors by reducing errors from 3B, plus you'd have more (+) plays resulting from the big arm at 3B than at 2B. I think. It's pretty close.

A: 3B
B: 2B
C: CF

A should be your 2b. The plus arm will lead to more double plays and more plus plays. B meets the requirements to be an adequate 3b and the benefit of a plus glove/arm at 2b is greater. There really isn't a wrong answer between these two at either position but I would put the better arm up the middle, assuming you have a ground all pitcher. If your pitcher isn't inducing a lot of ground balls this whole discussion is pointless.

Man. This is a great question. I agree that CF is easy. You put C) at center. However, the other two are so close. I think if it were me, I would put A) at 2b. Only because he will get more plus plays to make up for the negative plays due to range. There are typically more opportunities at 2b than at 3b so I will put the better fielder at 2b. Also, B) will still be decent at 3b.

It seems like there are more put outs at 2B than 3B, which makes sense (DPs, etc.). How does that impact this choice in your view?
