Sorry, another random question.

Can you designate a guy for assignment after trading him away?

Asking to clear a 40-man spot. Trade won’t go through before the roster freeze

Should ask a follow-up question...do I need to add guys to my 40 that I’ve traded? Or will they automatically be exempt from rule 5?

1) I think, but am not certain, that DFAing someone after a trade is accepted will void a trade.
2) You absolutely have to add players you've traded to the 40, if they would otherwise be eligible to be taken in Rule 5... else they can be taken in Rule 5, which voids the trade.
