How to Satisfy "Wants Rebuild" Success Preference? Topic

I recently took over a complete dumpster fire D1 team in Tarkanian (VCU, my alma mater) and am still learning v3.0 after an extended break. Considering my team hasn't been to the NT for over 10 seasons and barely .500 over the past 4 seasons, how is it that I'm still not meeting prospective recruit's "Wants Rebuild" Success Preference? (Currently listed as neutral).

Also, with the complete dumpster fire the team is and the weak Conference, whats a realistic ceiling on recruit caliber I should expect to compete for? (for the first few seasons until I'm able to right the ship).. With no previous D1 experience, I'm not sure whether I stand a chance at signing top 100 guys, mainly referring to cases in which the recruit is relatively close (geographically) and has a favorable preference match.

Thanks in advance!

I am in my 3rd season in D1 at a D prestige my SLU squad gets a Good for “Wants Rebuild”.

It is relatively rare for D1 teams to get above neutral for wants rebuild, so you’ll still be getting more credit than most of your human D1 competition, who will be bad and very bad for that preference.

I wonder this too. I always take over complete rebuilds at D2. All my teams except for one. And i've NEVER seen rebuild. I wondered this same thing. I assume it's more relevant at D3.

I took over a team that was 4-23. And my preference for success was "good". I was shocked!

For the rare starred recruits that want a rebuild, the difference between neutral and very bad can be a significant difference. It’s definitely worth scouting for the first few years after taking over a rebuild.

Each recruit must define a rebuild as different, or there are degree's of what they are looking for.

I seriously doubt that. Like I said, my SLU squad gets a “Good” for every recruit seeking a rebuild. There must be some criteria set for a rebuild that my squad satisfies but OP’s doesn’t..

I think the system go by the last 4 seasons of that teams success. So going by that logic OP's last 4 seasons had 2 losing seasons and 2 winning seasons. Whereas Zag's SLU team had (not including this season) had only 1 winning season with 3 losing seasons. Which can explain why Zag is at "Good" compared to OP's "Neutral".

My D1 Fordham team in Smith with a D- prestige gets "Good" for rebuild while my Dayton team in Wooden with D+ prestige gets Very Good for rebuild. They have earned those rebuild ratings until recently, too.
I just don't know if that helps me all through recruiting or just to get to a scholly?

Just because you have a rebuild as good or very good as a preference, don't think you're all of a sudden going to out recruit D-1 A prestige teams.

I completely agree! I'm just not sure how much it helps me and if it helps me get to offering a scholly and then stops or if it helps minutes, HV's and CV's?

The fact that this is probably accurate demonstrates what an insanely idiotic "preference" Wants Rebuild is.

Most of the preferences add something fun to the game, but this one is just not defensible.

I don't think that statement is accurate (though I could be wrong). As I made my way up from C- to A- in DI, each recruit who had a preference for success gave me the exact same rating within that particular recruiting season. When I was C-, Wants Rebuild was Good and Wants Success was Bad. When I was C+, both were Neutral. When B, Wants Rebuild was Bad and Wants Success was Good. At A-, Wants Rebuild is Very Bad and Wants Success is Very Good.

Note, even if your prestige changes between RS1 and RS2, this preference does NOT change.

Also note, in DII, what prestige levels qualified for each level differed from DI.
