Halftime Adjustment Topic

Does anyone know what the best Halftime Adjustment to use? I have it set to anytime, and I seem to blow games after it adjusts at halftime.

Yeah, if you use the "anytime" settings and you're up by a good amount at halftime, you risk the other team getting back into the game. Why fix it if it's not broken could apply here.

I think it might be based on number of shot attempts. If a team goes 6-9 from 3 in the 1st half, but most of the shots are coming from inside the arc, do I really want my team to go more negative on defense?

I'm not saying you shouldn't use it. You might want to use it against a team you're favored against, this way if you're losing at halftime, more than likely, something needs to be adjusted.

Also, you're offense could suck and defense could be playing well, but could also be making things worse by adjusting the settings at halftime.

Actually, as I'm reading the FAQ's, it's based on the number of points scored inside vs outside. But again, they could be scoring most of their points inside, but the other team is shooting terribly from close to the basket, so in that case do you really want to adjust your settings? Something to think about.

There needs to be a fix where it takes into consideration 2 pt FG% and 3pt FG% at halftime.

I've tried to answer this 5 times and keep backtracking before I answer. It's more detailed than just "what's best".

You run flex press. So for me, I'm trying to fatigue the other team in most cases. So on offense, I'd use uptempo and "never". Because if I'm losing by 20 or winning by 20, I'm trying to fatigue the opponent. So I keep pushing. If I ran slowdown, I may use "if losing" because apparently I need to speed things up in the 2nd half to catch up.

Defensively, I rarely use "never", because I'd rather use "if losing by 10" because if I am losing by 10, something needs to be adjusted! I don't really prefer "anytime", because if I'm up big at half, I don't want the engine changing what's working so far. More often than not, I use "if losing by 5" and "if losing".

I have the tempo adjustment to "never" (because if I'm getting drilled at halftime, going faster typically gets you drilled by more in the second half) and the positioning at "When Losing by 5 or more..."

I should've been more clear I guess. Because what rednu says makes sense to a point. I don't necessarily use uptempo against a team that I don't have some sort of advantage. Whether it's stamina, overall better team, things like that. If I'm getting beat at halftime, I still have confidence that I can continue to be aggressive. In almost any situation where I'm down 10+ at half, its unlikely I ran uptempo. If I expect to be crushed, I run slowdown

Same. Sometimes I set my positioning to "Never" if a team shoots so many threes that I don't want it to adjust if the team isn't making them. But 90% of the time, it's "If losing by 5 or more."

I like the defensive positioning at “if losing or tied”. If we are tied at half and the engine sees a need to adjust my defensive positioning, I figure that could help in the 2nd half.

Thanks for the input guys, going to switch to losing by 5+ and see how that goes.
