Draft Scouting vs. Advanced Scouting Topic

Reading the forums, I get the impression advanced scouting will be closer to real ratings than draft scouting. Is this true. What about if I have 10 million advanced scouting and 20 million draft scouting in each. Which more accurate?

The $20M for sure. I'm not sure one is more accurate than the other if budgets are the same. I would assume that even though you don't get the same ratings with equal budgets, you get very similar deviations from the accurate projected ratings.

I'm not sure it's true that one is better than another. Remember that you can budget any category of scouting to a maximum of 20 million. Maximum doesn't mean perfect or accurate, just maximum. There's fuzziness at 20 million.

In my experience, 10 million scouting is a waste of money. Any projections you get from that are guesswork. 10 million better be a stop on the way to something higher or lower.

Advance scouting is probably a little more projectable than College scouting than High School scouting, just because of the ages of the players involved. The time factor. Projections are targeted to age 27 which is when most players stop developing. So if you're looking at a 25 yo with 20 mil advance, you should be pretty close. An age 22 college senior is five years out. An age 18 high schooler is nine years out.

I just took the franchise and 10 is on the way to something higher.

I use draft scouting as I choose not to use adv scouting. I have always went to 0 as quick as I could. I doubt either is perfect even at its max.

I do the same as Brianp87. After enough seasons of experience, I feel advance scouting is unnecessary. Draft and international scouting is crucial, however, if you want to be serious in those arenas.
