Points are not an excuse to boot you. It is a rule so that there is no scrambling to find someone else after the final deadline. That is why there are multiple deadlines. You're missing this specific point.

the point is that a championship, if it's to be real, is supposed to have those teams in it that are the best. Therefore the 2018 WIS championship should have an asterisk as it's not a true measure of the best of the best on this site. You've changed the dynamic completely now.

multiple deadlines makes it easier to get rid of the people who you don't like is how this suddenly feels to me. none of this is written out in the official rules.

With all due respect, bothways, you are no different to me than anyone else on this site in any way and taking this personally is really the wrong way to go here. I am trying to run a tournament efficiently on top of my normal responsibilities in life. To do this, it is essential to set up processes to make it run smoothly.

Again, feel free to chat with EJ directly to see what you are willing to work out but these deadlines were communicated very early on and you did not communicate that you would miss the first one.

makes finals - constructs teams - deadlines get pushed back - life happens, but hey, at least I built my teams right away, but i better put this on my calendar so I don't forget to enter them as I don't want to hold the league up - calendar reminds yesterday - deadline arrives - gets up early excited to finally get this going - has been dumped from league entirely - checks date - huh - guess someone got themselves all worked up over nothing and dumped me?

how's that make this a championship?

You forgot “misses first deadline”

The Round 2 "deadline" rules have been in place since I started this tournament in 2004 so to say you are booted because you aren't liked is moronic. Obviously, you have never tried to run a tournament with this many people which which requires this much time and effort. By the way, similar rules were in place in round 1.

Your childish "I want my money back" behavior is obviously an attempt to bully your way back into the tournament. Ozomatli has gone out of his way to make sure you were given every opportunity to get in. But you chose not to reply or do anything to indicate you were even alive. He had no choice but to replace you. If I was still running things, you would be out of luck. By letting you in now sets a bad precedent that anybody can simply ignore the rules and whine and b1tch the day of the deadline and get back in.

The tournament is better off without you.

(I'll offer ejstockman 2 six packs to stay in)

right, and that's my mistake for not realizing that there were multiple deadlines (i'm used to deadline meaning end point), and the penalty is supposed to be a points deduction, no?

this feels like a convenient way to ditch me, by saying, "we did it because of the points", and then "we did it because there's a first deadline"

it's just not right. nor does it do your tournament any favors as I'm right here ready to go and I earned that spot, but you're denying it to me.

I haven't held anything up in any round of this league and I wasn't about to start now. I should be refunded my 12 teams and my $15. Someone is getting to enter this league on my $15 and that's like stealing money from me on top of my spot in the finals.

bothways, I respect your frustration here but I am not going to engage on this any further or respond to future posts. If EJ feels compelled to give you his spot, that's fine and you'll be able to enter. If not, that's it. Causing any more of a commotion here and flinging accusations of bias, theft or any other unsubstantiated thing will do nothing to improve your case. You missed the first deadline with 0 communication and that's on you.
