This guy- Mark Taber

I have given him 20 minutes practice time since the beginning of the season ... and we're thru game 25 ... and he has never budged off that Green F rating.

Can this be right? Or is this a bug?

Never dreamed he wouldn't be at least a "D" by now.

I'll probably end up cutting him after the season - the F rating is intolerable.

No bug. Keep in mind an F can be anywhere below 60%, assuming the grade values are equivalent to a number or percentage grade. It isn't, but just for arguments sake. He could've gained 10% points and still be at an F. Make sense?

That's pretty F'n bad.

Are you wanting to cut him just because of a bad FT rating?! He looks decent for a D3 player in my opinion. Don't know what his potentials look like now. But he's not the worst player i've ever seen

I think this is messed up.

He's had 20 minutes practice for the whole season and has not budged off that green F. That's not right.

I'm sending a ticket (to no avail I know).

FWIW, he was shooting below 40% FT for most the season. That's a pretty big flaw to stomach. I don't think he is THAT good. He'll be cut. He's kinda become a burr in my backside.

If he shot 40% for the year think of it as he started as a 30% shooter and is now a 50% shooter, averaging out to 40%, but still an F. He did improve, but because of the letter grade rather than number system, you just can't see it.

Yeah I wouldn't cut a guy just because of that.

First time I've heard that, that the F covers a wider range than the other letter grades.
Still ... an entire season of 20 minutes and no visible improvement.
The only way I buy this is if I keep him and he actually goes to F+ ... not sure if I'll give him the chance.
Do know this ... I'll never recruit another guy with a F FT rating*.

* Excluding transfers which for some odd reason almost always have an F FT rating ... which improves the second you sign them.

Wizard mentioned the wider F spread in the second post. It makes sense if you think of it just like a school grading system - 0% to 59% is F, but 60-69% is a D, etc.
This player just seems to be remarkably bad at FT's, so maybe he's at 25% where other F players that improved more quickly are at 55%.

whenever you see something puzzling in FT or any other rating, it is important to keep in mind that the number or letter displayed in fact represents a decimal out to several places. We dont know how many digits the decimals go, but imagine that they are 5 or 10 digit numbers.

This helps explain how a player can go from green to blue with no apparent change

This helps explain what is going on with your terrible FT shooter - he is improving, maybe a lot, but it doesnt show

The engine doesnt see letter grades - it speaks decimals.
