Congrats and Good Luck Topic

I just wanted to congratulate Pat Chambers (aka zagsrulez) on his recent tourny appearance.

Good luck in the application process this year. I'm rooting for ya!

It’s funny because Pat Chambers doesn’t make the tourney.

HD jobs process is so stupid. Gonzaga in Knight is in such a sorry shape currently, I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot pole. I’ll stick with my B prestige SLU. After a NT appearance, Gonzaga was labeled as ‘Step Backwards’ for me.

So now that you can get it...you don't want it?

I thought it was all about getting there.

You gotta grab your dream job when he chance is there. If you can coach at all, Gonzaga won’t be too hard to turn around.

it looks like you’d be pretty much starting over roster-wise, but the conference schedule is so-so and UW is a Simmy.

I guess but SLU and Gonzaga are practically the same as far as baseline prestige goes. I have already made the climb from D to B success. Am I crazy for not wanting to repeat that again with a similar team in a similar below average conference? I personally don’t think so especially since it’s a waste of my money. I have a good recruiting class and another shot at a NT appearance at SLU

Yeah snag the job! Someone else might take it and hold on to it for a long time, you never know!

It just sounds like your goals have shifted.

Dream job, the all time thing you want to do most in this game.... get your favorite school!

But now you aren't worried about your favorite school, and prefer the success. So you're just choosing winning over what you thought was important to you. Nothing wrong with that. Just changed your priorities. I'd do the same thing.

Take your dream job when you can! I’ve played 70+ seasons across Knight and Tark trying to get into the Indiana job and I haven’t been able to get there yet.... maybe one day.

TAKE YOUR DREAM JOB.

I took Oklahoma State in Iba when it was rock bottom and in the world's best conference. In three seasons I've increased by conference wins from 1 to 2 to 5. And it is so exciting.

Yah but OKSU and Indiana are both highly wanted jobs in great conferences. I’ve been in Knight for 20 seasons and Gonzaga has had 3 owners for 8 total seasons in that timeframe. 2 of those coaches were there for one season. I’m not saying that someone else will not take the job but that Gonzaga is a far less desirable location than those two big 6 schools. Currently I’m playing at an equivalent school & in an equivalent conference.

Topdog is right, I want to win and rack up some credits, I’m used to playing HD at a very discounted price. I’d like to get back to those discounts first before moving to another rebuild. I doubt I’ll have to wait 70+ seasons for the Zags job if it does get taken.

Take the job! That's what you've been building towards! NC at Gonzaga would be the best for you!

Go with the dream job. Even if you can turn SLU into a powerhouse, it won’t be as rewarding as if you had done it at Gonzaga. I coach at my alma mater in Crum world, Northwestern. After a long hiatus from HD, it was the only job that interested me enough to get back into playing. Easily the most fun I have had in whatifsports was turning Northwestern from a crap program in a loaded conference to A+ prestige juggernaut coming off 5 straight appearances in the final four and a national title. The fact that it took me a while to get them going only made the success sweeter. I have been tempted by openings at the top tier baseline prestige schools, but even if I could miraculously replicate the success I have had at NU, it wouls never be NEARLY as satisfying.
