I thought winning the PIT is actually better.

The rumor was 3 PIT wins were equal to or worth more than a 1st round NT loss.

I always heard winning the PIT and losing in the first round of the NT were equal.

I just finished a season where I lost in the third round of the PIT. The number of D1 jobs I can transfer to went up from about 20 last season to about 80 in the current jobs phase. I didn't expect that. I must have received some credit for my little PIT run. (I also got CCOY, but I've never known that to be worth anything.)

The extra year of longevity(with success) at one school probably gave you that advantage of having 20 extra schools to choose from.

Made the Elite 8 in D-2 one year, there were still no D-1 jobs available. Next season, lost in the 1st round and had pretty much all the D and D- schools open up.
