Do players actually perform differently home and away (excluding park factors)? Damag’s post about looking for good home splits doesn’t make sense to me

Won't always work for everyone. In my case my home park was Seattle, extreme pitcher's park. When I am lining up my SPs at the start of a series I'll look over the home/road splits just in case it might make a difference. I knew who my top two starters were and needed to pick a third. I chose a player with extreme home/road splits to only make home starts.

In a more neutral park, I probably wouldn't give it as much weight.

consider an elite D & Speed guy as one of your bench players. Guys that are zeros with the bat but are 80/80 Glove guys and/or 80/80 Speed guys are tough to carry in the regular season but very useful when you only have to play 5-7 games. i usually try to carry 1/2 of these guys at AAA on my 40 to call up just for Sept/Playoffs

What do you consider an elite pinch runner? Do his batting stats matter at all?

Speed + BR >= 170 to be a solid PR. 180 is very good, 190 is elite.

Does the bat matter at all for playoff pinch runners and shortstops (besides starting one)?

Is there a similar estimate for ratings --> OPS? In other words, can it be said that someone with splits & power that add up to X number will be able to produce a certain level of OPS? For example, "A hitter whose splits & power add up to at least 210 should be able to OPS 0.850"? (those numbers are semi-made up...what I'm looking for are the accurate numbers to put in their place.)
