So I would like to run another test on the strength of each of the preferences, so decided to reserve a D-3 team for one season.

I know at D-1, with player rankings, it's hard to do, because not only are you trying to figure out the strength of each preference, but you have to factor in the strength of the player, which makes it almost impossible, although it does give you some idea.

For instance, if I gave 70 players 2 APs each, and did this for a few cycles, based on the percentage needed to unlock a scholarship or even a HV or CV, I could have a better understanding the strength of each preference.

So my question is if I scouted and recruited just D-3 players, are all D-3 players considered the same? If I tried to give APs to the highest rated player and lowest rated player at D-3, both have a close to home preference, with the same exact distance and gave them the same amount of APs would it be the same thing?
They are considered the bottom of the bottom so bad that they don't even make their youth roster team at a level 10 scale.
Normally this guy annoys the hell out of me but for some reason that comment made me laugh.

Also, I have no idea the answer to your question wiz.

"... are all D-3 players considered the same?"

What? Hundreds or thousands of identical players? You hardly ever see ANY identical players. Have you ever seen even five identical players?

The customer support response I received suggested that it was based on player ratings and GPA.

CS response:

The effort needed to unlock actions works the same for all players. It's based on the quality of the player (a combination of ratings, gpa, etc), the school's prestige, and the recruit's preferences.

GPA is factored in? Hm. Didn't know that.

I can't imagine it playing a huge part though.

Does anyone know if the weight of a particular preference can vary from recruit to recruit? Meaning, if two recruits only have the near home preference and all other factors are the same, could they still progress toward unlocking recruiting options a different pace based on one recruit wanting to be near home to a greater extent than the other?

Yes all preferences are likely a numerical multiplier which is then dropped into grade buckets with specified ranges (i.e. not all Very Goods are the same).

So a recruit who has a Near Home preference and one school is only 10 miles away while another is 100 miles, the closer school will carry more weight based on that one preference assuming everything else is equal even though both have VG for the distance preference. There are likely ceilings though where Far from Home with one school is 8000 miles vs. 2000 miles is likely a small increase.
