Recruiting Players - Color Categories Topic

I may be a little late on this. I noticed that when you are recruiting players, you can select a color category for them. Does anyone have a method they use for this?

It depends on what level my team is. At D1 I use them to organize recruits by when they will sign.

Blue = Early
Green = End of Period 1
Yellow = Whenever
Red = Late

This helps me focus on which recruits need early attention and who can wait.

At the lower divisions, I use blue for primary D1 targets, green for back D1 targets, yellow for primary D2 targets, and red for back-up D2 targets. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. It is just an organizational tool.

I break it down by position, except for blue:

Red - C/ PF Types
Yellow - SG/SF
Green - PG
Blue - my primary targets

There really is no right or wrong, just whatever you find out works for you

I use blue for guys I will consider my “primary targets” - in other words, guys I will be willing to spend substantial AP/$ on.

Green are backup or project players I may try to secure with AP - these are typically low starting, high potential players, and if I do invest in them, it will be calculating that potential human rivals won’t want to invest much, either.

Yellow is for late signing “plan b” or “plan c” types, guys like green, but with a late signing preference. I might try to get in position on a player or two in this category, especially if I’m worried about a possible early entry.

Red is for high level guys I want to watch and put early points on, and may move to blue, if I like how the early battle shapes up.

Your mileage may vary.

I use them to identify off/def sets.

Blues run my off/def
Greens run my off
Yellow runs my def
Reds run neither

One think i think is unique that i do, i use one color for opponents. Meaning if I'm battling coach JoeBlow for a player, when i look at recruits if i see JoeBlow anywhere on a recruit, I'll give the player that color. That way i can track what my opponents are doing elsewhere.

if i have 3 battle-like situations with 3 different coaches, all 3 of those coaches players will get that same color. So all of JoeBlows targets, all of BlahBlahs targets, and all of BillBobs targets all get a green (or whatever color).

It just makes it easy to look back, rather than trying to think how many recruits i saw that coach on.

This, essentially.

I uses the colors to prioritize my recruits, blue are my primary targets, green are back up choices and I use red for recruits I have given up on but still look at. Yellow is for recruits I have not recruited but are the back ups to the back ups. Hopefully, that is not too confusing. But it works for me.
