I don't think it's a stupid question. If you know your team very well, and want to do something like that, it can't hurt. And maybe lazy coaches don't notice things. But the majority of the solid coaches would likely notice and plan accordingly.
With this same mindset, my E8 opponent in Smith (that did end up beating me), used a similar approach to try to trick me. I guess after his S16 victory, he switched his defensive setting to show as if he was going to play zone against me. But he was a press team. So under my player game plan, 2-3 zone showed up instead of press. And then he switched it back to press close to game time.
If i were a coach that didn't notice, I'd have set my distro that game to face a zone. But i saw what he did, switched the setting on my screen back to press, and set my distro accordingly. Sneaky sneaky!
