I am thinking about flip-flopping Brandon Olson and Gary O'Malley in the starting line up this season. I would put O'Malley at SF because he has better speed and BH; then slide Olson to PF because he is a better shot blocker and in theory might get better looks from 3 since he'll usually be guarded by a slower defender.

Is this a bad idea?

Not sure if it is relevant, but Fall, Holt and Stroud are the other starters.

Also note, I mostly play 3-2 zone on defense

I honestly don't think your overall results will be significantly different either way... They each have advantages in each position. I think whatever you're more comfortable with is fine.

I would be strongly considering playing Holt at SF. His combo of SP/LP/PER are awesome. Plus you lose nothing on defense since he's out front in the 3-2.

I was thinking about moving Holt to SF, but I don’t really have a good G to replace him with.

You’re already taking a rebounding hit, playing 3-2. Olson’s rebounding at the 4 won’t help. O’Malley’s rebounding is better, and you’d be putting him in a position to use it less. IMO, the perimeter is less affected by this position change than the rebounding. So in essence, you’re kind of accentuating a weakness, and de-emphasizing a relative strength. It won’t tank your team, but I would think it’s a little less than optimal, unless there’s a compelling matchup reason to switch in a given game.
