it's hard to give advice for recruiting for D1. first off, it's completely unpredictible. no matter what you do, it's usually a coin flip for the recruit. higher prestige teams can come in a grab a recruit at any moment, and A prestige teams can run all over other teams. you can go days pouring in attn pts and visits and promises, and then a higher prestige team can walk in one cycle before signigns and scoop the guy up, leaving you with no cash and little options. my best advice is this - if you are new and not emotionally invested yet in this, then don't bother. Sim baseball is fun. but HD is a complete trainwreck disaster. spend your money elsewhere. hard drugs, prostitutes, ANYTHING is a better idea.
I've been following your venting in the Big East chat in Wooden. The truth is, sure, some of it is bad luck. Most of your frustration originates in your poor decisions to A. either spend too early, which is why you're left with no cash, and/or B. to not have enough backup plans in case things turn, which is why you're left with little options.

This is neither here nor there, but running FB (uptempo)/press is very hard to do in the current incarnation of HD.

Luckily for OP, he won't be listening to your "advice."

I was gonna say “user error”, but I’ve heard some folks get a little prickly about that. I’m glad you brought it up.

"I think there should be more value added for a school that's been on a recruit since the beginning."

This already exists if you're willing to make promises to wants-to-play guys. Broader-scale "considering credit" in earlier versions of the game basically prevented battles, and 3.0 did a good thing by all but eliminating it.
Are you saying that before 3.0, that promises were more powerful, in that offering them early gave more of an advantage to coaches that started on the recruit from the beginning? I don't think i played 2.0. I played 1.0 but i had no idea what i was doing back then.

Also, i still don't think promises create the impact I'm looking for. Again, i do feel the big schools should have a huge advantage. Just not a "2 cycle steal" advantage necessarily. Maybe one way to address my example, is to only be able to offer 5 visits per cycle. That would still give the big schools the advantage once they got their 20 visits in. But it would take more than 1 cycle to do so.

Unintended consequence - it REALLY screws new coaches in the 2nd recruiting session. So maybe only apply it to 1st session.

Very true. And not a super great idea. Just something that popped up in the brain at the time. Surprisingly, it may not have been a terrible thought. Normally everyone throws poo at me when i discuss a possible idea. Not this time
