Tried to search the forums but it's hard to find an answer- if a player scheduled to be a FA next season is willing to sign an extension now, how often does he change his mind midseason? I've actually never seen a player change his mind midseason. From one season to the next offseason is different of course.

Yeah, I've only seen it from one season to the next. I am curious if maybe getting a bump in overall from, say a medical boost, could cause them to change their mind.

The only time I've seen it in season is when I swapped a player I had not wanting to resign with another team for a player that wouldn't resign with him. The player I acquired agreed to sign a new deal with me but the guy I traded wouldn't sign with his new team. I was able to resign the player I traded away as a FA so it worked out well for me. The other guy wasn't as lucky.

Sometimes a FA will say they looked at the team depth and though they had a better shot playing for another team. Maybe the two guys traded took the teams depth into consideration? We know older players will decline a trade to a bad team. Maybe all that stuff is worked into the players decision?
