DEF and FG%+ needs adjustment Topic

11/01 16:08 pexetera the SIM needs to adjust for the differences in eras better than it does. The guys prior to the early 2000's need a bigger jump in their FG%+ to account for the difference in hand check rules. and they need DEF to have a bigger effect on opponent fg%. If they did those two things you'd see guys like Bill Russell and Larry Bird and Jordan start to make their way back into starting lineups.
and it would make their product fresh again, as owners had to relearn what works. cause the air is getting a little stale.
11/01 16:01 pexetera Curry's still a great shooter, no doubt, but he'd have shot at least 5% worse in the 90s than he does today. And guys like Bird would have shot at least 5% better today. And Bill Russell would have had the same impact that Dennis Rodman did in the 90s, only more impact because he was a leader.
11/01 15:58 pexetera and they have his defensive numbers at 70 most years. What a joke. Gary Payton was assigned a 90 DEF in his best years, and it still doesn't accurately reflect his impact on the game. I would have loved to see Gary Payton or Walt Frazier guard Steph Curry back in the day. They'd have picked him up at half court and wore him like a glove.
11/01 15:55 pexetera The SIM automatically assigns a defensive rating of 90 to any player who makes the NBA all-Defense 1st team. The NBA started picking NBA All-Defensive teams in 1968-69. Bill Russell made 1st team all-defense that year, and that's the only year the SIM gives him a 90 DEF. Can we just assume that Bill would have made the NBA all-defensive 1st team prior to 1969 and give him 90 DEF numbers down the line. There are at least 4 more years where he would have made 1st team defense.
