I am thinking about trying out Hoops Dynasty and am coming from a background in Hardball Dynasty. In Hardball, I have found my most success in player evaluation comes from looking at players who have performed well in the past and determining which ratings/rating combos to look for. Is there a place in Hoops Dynasty where I can look at historical stats without being a part of the world yet? Or do I have to join to have this kind of access?

Welcome, I hope you give it a try. It’s smart to poke around a bit to see what successful teams do, and what great players look like before you jump in.

HD doesn’t keep historical stats as well as HBD. You should be able to see the ratings and stats of all current players by clicking on a user from the HD forums and then click one of their teams. That will bring you to something like a team overview page, where you can see where the team is currently at. From that page, the “Records” tab will give you school records for the top 25 in each category, for the school in that world. This will give you an idea of what kind of ratings the top performers in categories like scoring, rebounding, assists, etc have. From that team’s schedule page, you should get access to this info for other teams. *Keep in mind, older players will not have ratings. The ratings for players weren’t always saved. For 1xday worlds, it’s something like the past 40-45 seasons, for 2xday it’s somewhere around 70-75 seasons.*

It’s also helpful to have someone walk you through scouting and recruiting before you start doing things your first season. Lots of folks are willing to help via sitemail, I think there’s a mentor list pinned at the top of this forum.
