Create Player Feature Topic

How about each owner reserves the option to create three players that will be randomly added to the prospect pool. Each owner will create the player during the determination of the franchise budget cycle. Once the budget cycle is over, all players created will be added [randomly] to one of the prospect pools (intl, college, high school).

The players created are not allowed to have an overall rated value of 50 so each player created would only make the ml squad as a role player unless they get ditr. The created player is not marked in any way so the only one that knows the player was created is the franchise owner that created him.

This amuses me in that my immediate thought is that I'd use what I consider to be my knowledge of player ratings to create two types of players: either sneaky good ones that would suit exactly what I'm looking for, and hopefully no one else recognizes; or sneaky bad ones, the type of turds who look like they should play better than they actually do.

e.g. I'm sure you know it's easy to make a player with a great Overall rating who can't hit, field, run, or get major league hitters out.

That's true -- vet owners would manipulate it. Maybe have a minimum durability, health and stamina so vets can't create the superstar catcher that can only play half the year or the superstar pitcher that only pitches two at bats. Or, even still, that corner outfield/1b that's hits well only against certain handed pitchers.

Since the overall rating Max is 50 (not 59), it would be difficult to create guys like the above if the durability, health and stamina minimum was 75. For pitchers, one or the other would be the minimum (durability or stamina). For hitters, both durability and health would have a minimum of 75.

Well, under your rules it would be pretty hard to create a sneaky superstar. So I'd probably just create weird strange players. Can we name them, too? Could get ugly in here.

Yes, but it would be from the pre-determined names that [I assume] already exist. Also, if you name them something outlandish, you are probably giving up the discretion.

Despite the above discussed limitations, i still think you can get guys in there that will play a specific role, but will need to manage accordingly. An example would be a left handed DH that has 0 split vs. L, but 65+ against R with big power and eye. Or, a low inning-low left split, high right split pitcher that you can hide as an LRA behind a left handed starter. So, I think there is still a way to make it work and keep vet owners from taking too much of an advantage.

The randomness that the simmy decides are items like age, patience, temper, makeup, height, weight, etc.

This is probably all just a moot discussion because none of these suggestions will be implemented, but I think it would cool.

Well I commend you for coming up with a more original idea, not just complaining about the rules LOL. I've always thought the better aspects of WiS games have been the areas where the users have taken a hand in customization.
