SO I have been sitting on it for a few days and cannot decide which 2 to keep in the majors. Thoughts? I want to keep Montana but cannot decide on the others.

This is actually a tougher call then it looks. Based on talent alone I would have Guillon start with Montana coming in late games to help the pitching staff out plus to play some games against lefties. The problem is, the two of them are going to tire out really fast.

On my SD team the reason why Morgan Berkman has never made the ML roster is because he gets gassed too easily. Even off the bench I worry he would tire to fast.

I would say start with those two, then when Guillon goes down with an injury, call Beresford up from the minors.

I personally think that you have room for all 3. Especially as an NL team, you are going to need pinch hitters. I think Beresford serves that role until Guillon gets tired.

I have been working to acquire a stud catcher but have had no luck. I wish one of them was a switch hitter so it would be easier.

Man, I wish you were in Riley. I have more catchers then I know what to do with and I have to get rid of some of em or lose em to Rule V.

Beresford 2.5 WAR player. Guillon 3.4 WAR player. Keke .6 WAR player. Not that hard IMO, the defense Keke brings is totally scratched by horrible hitting.

He is the one I am going to keep either way. It was honestly hard for me to decide between the other two.

1) Guillon for sure, and then I'd slightly prefer pairing him with Montana because of the situational defensive replacement value. While cubcub113 derogates Montana's overall performance, he's almost as good a player against LHP as the other two given his glove. He's unplayable against RHP.

2) cubcub113, whatever you're using for replacement value is way too low for HBD. These are all essentially freely available talent players (ie, replacement value). A Montana-type is always findable in Rule 5 (where brianp87 found him) and the others are types that are going to be free agents that sign for just over $1M, platoon DHs for second-division teams.

I was going to try and start Montana vs lhp and one of the others vs rhp. I just couldn't decide on the other 2.

Yeah I know, I calibrate it weirdly. To me, replacement level means an average player on a 50 or 55 win team or whatever it is. In HBD those guys are more readily available than in real life because we actually have access to ratings (we know how good everyone is).

Geez Guillon is a great player against lefties. Should be .850 ish OPS. His career stat line totally backs that up. I would surmise he’s been platooning.

I hope your worlds don't have many 50 or 55 win teams.

That's a real-world concept, not an HBD one. No one in their right mind in HBD picks up a team of replacement level guys.
