There is nothing wrong with the game. People need to stop binging on lightning fast video games.

Chill out. Grab a beer. Enjoy the game.

Just on face value, this changes the game, the real question is how much. Seems like a pretty drastic change, would have preferred a roster limit and maybe some tinkering with the DL manipulation.

Speed of the game has never been an issue with me, going to a game was always more of a social experience and many times I couldn't even tell you the score. They are going to ruin the game by trying to attract new fans and in the end will lose the real fans.

I haven't been following this stuff too closely, but I was curious. Can a pitcher still get the heave-ho for arguing balls and strikes with an ump? How about for calling the ump's mother a filthy name? What's MLB's contingency plan for a pitcher trying to get tossed after facing one batter?
I like your idea better than mine. My first thought upon reading the rule was that a manager will go to the mound and tell the pitcher he is injured and needs to leave. Then if necessary, the manager or the catcher will try to actually injure the pitcher.

Why on Earth do they need to speed up a baseball game?

People watch frickin' golf on TV.

Hire a commissioner with a clue. Leave the game alone. It ain't broke.
Damn Doc.! I KNEW we'd fin d agreement on the REALLY important things in life.

The current commissioner of baseball is apparently more clueless than Roger Goodell.

He's now intent on doing for baseball what Goodell has done for/to Football.
Ruin the game entirely!!

Of course he's saved me lots of money.
I don't spend it at the bars watching games anymore.
I stay home and enjoy myself in a myriad of other ways, ALL of them way way more rewarding than watching the NFL's current game of pitch, catch, and whistles!!

They don't need to speed it up. They make a ton on this...why be in a hurry? What is following the game, programming wise? Frasier re runs? X-Games? Roseanne? Sportscenter? You want to hurry up for that?

Folks, your regular viewers, they don't care how long the game lasts. We enjoy the commercials, the pitching changes, the intricacies of the game. Purists don't want the DH. The MLBPA won't allow that to go away, but leave the rest of it as is. People seem to like the 2nd WC team, the play in game...ok, we can deal with a new twist here and there, but this is a game that is time tested. If you wanna make wholesale changes to Roller Derby, fine...not baseball. Thank You...

TY Doc!!
But there is no sanity in the current commissioner's pinhead!

I don't get it. Is it in the owners best interest to speed up the game? The TV money is for sure a consideration, but the game sells itself as is. The game requires no reinvention. They will **** it up, as they say across the pond. Stop listening to the bean counters.

I'd just not worry about making the Game fast enough to capture the boneheads who don't enjoy baseball as it is.
That course will do the same for Baseball as it has for football.
Render it a boring shell of the game it USED to be.
Folks don't even watch football anymore!!
They're too busy trying to figure out their fantasy points total.

Our society just continues to reduce itself to the miscreants and the nincompoops level.
The patients have taken over control of the Hospital as it were and they're slowly killing us all off!
Starting with our brains!
many have already rotted.
Well said Bob!
