Getting recruits from moderate to signed? Topic

Hey all, my second season playing and my second season running into this.

How do I get recruits from the "Moderate" interest level into getting them "very high" and then signed?

I home visit every chance I get and do a campus visit as soon as that's allowed. But they're always stuck on moderate.

What's the solution? Can someone sitemail me?

Are you recruiting D1 prospects?

Looks like you play D2. In the first recruiting session you can sign guys in the d2 pool, provided you're at least "high," interest and have a scholarship offered, and they don't have a "late" signing preference. If you're recruiting players in the D1 pool in the first session, you cannot get any higher than "moderate" no matter how much effort you put into them. In session 2, if the D1 players have an "early" preference they will sign with you on the first cycle of the 2nd session (provided you have a scholarship offered). If they have a "whenever" or "late" preference, they can sign any cycle in the 2nd session.

Also, it's not a good idea to offer visits immediately when they are unlocked, as a D2 coach, unless it's RS2.

If no one has reached out to you yet, if you're in the lead on a D1 pool player, and listed as "moderate" while everyone else is still very low, you are actually at "very high". But the system caps a D2 team at moderate all thru RS1. The intent is to allow D1 schools to have first dibs at players from the D1 pool IF a D1 school/coach chooses to invest in a player. It's one of the things that the game does correctly in my opinion.

When RS2 begins, all caps are lifted for D2 schools/coaches. At all times during recruiting, SOMEONE has to be leading. So again if you see yourself listed at moderate during RS1 and no other schools are above you, you're actually the Very High. But if you see another D2 school listed at moderate along with you, you don't really know where you stand until RS2 processes the first cycle. After that, caps are removed, and you will see which of the two schools are actually leading, you or the other guy (or potentially both).

2 D2 schools showing at moderate in RS1 could have many outcomes. School A could be very high while school B could be at moderate (or vice versa). School A could be at Very High and school B could be at High (or vice versa). That's where it becomes hairy, and experience will help you understand these circumstances.

Bumping this thread for another question: what if I'm going after a recruit that is DI (I'm DII) but they have a "sign by end of period 1" preference? Will they still not sign to Recruiting session 2?

Correct. As a D2 school you cannot sign a D1 rated player anytime before the start of the second recruiting period, regardless what his preferences are.

Your goal as a D2 coach recruiting D1 pool players, is to effectively "drag" those players into RS2. If he's a Late signer, you have no worries because he won't sign with ANY division school until RS2.

But if the player is Early or EoP1 signer, there's a tad more risk involved while potentially having a greater reward. If no D1 humans push for the player, OR if you can effectively fend off any D1s with effort, and keep them from getting into signing range for all of RS1, then it gives you an opportunity. If you're able to do that, you're actually in signing range yourself. You just can't sign him because of the division cap.

But when RS2 begins, with the circumstances listed above, he will 100% sign with SOMEONE on that very first cycle of RS2. Either yourself, or possibly any other school that may drop a bomb of HVs that cycle.

I prefer Early or EoP1 signers at D2 for this reason. It's almost a form of a deadline..... hold off schools for all of RS1, and sign him immediately when RS2 begins.
