Player signed without me recruiting Topic

Ok....sorry for the bother again, and thanks for those that have responded to my earlier posts. They have been helpful. But recruiting is in full swing in Crum. And here is where it just got weird. I just got an update saying a player excepted the scholarship that I offered him. The only thing is, I haven't offered ANYONE a scholarship yet. How can this be? Can I rescind it even though I just signed him and get the money back. I say that because ironically he looks like a low level d3 prospect at best and is someone that I would never pursue.

You just arrived at the team and the sim offered him a scholarship in RS1 which you did not withdraw so he signed.

How could the SIM offer him a scholarship? I have had control of the team since before scouting / recruiting opened. I think I took the job earlier this week at the beginning of job openings.

Am I stuck with this scrub? I checked to see if I could negate the scholarship and couldn't find a way to do it. If so, that would suck. That would end up stretching out my rebuild a little longer.

The sim was coaching the team during the season and during RS1. You are currently in RS2. You are stuck with him next season but you can cut him.

This is good advice for anyone that takes over a new team in the job change period. On the recruiting page, look at all the players on the "All Contacted" tab to see if anyone has a "Yes" in the Schol. column. If you don't want to get stuck with that player, make sure you rescind the scholarship during that first cycle of the off-season recruiting period (what is often referred to as RS2).

Ahhh......now that makes sense, and i guess is another new change / update since I last played several years ago. Well that sucks. Oh well, thanks for the follow up and clarification.
I'm assuming though if I cut him next year, I will get the full recruiting / scouting $ for him since I didn't sign him though. Am I correct in saying that?

I’m not 100% on this but I think technically you did sign him because you were the coach when he signed.

Unless there has been an unannounced update, he will show up as signed by you, and you won’t get resources if you cut him. This is an annoying bug they seem unable/unwilling to fix. Contact CS if and when you cut him. I don’t have a solid answer on what they’ll tell you. Some say they have been able to get the resources back, others report being told there’s nothing that could be done. It would be cool, if you remember, if you come back and post their ticket answer.

They fixed it before so you don’t have to email if a player signs in RS1 and you take over in RS2. But he was the coach when the player signed, so I don’t think he’ll ever be able to get resources for him. Contact customer support though.
