Recruiting money spending Topic

So again, back in HD for the first time in many years and going through my first recruiting cycle. I have picked up a couple of descent players (at least I think and hope) all without spending a single dollar of my recruiting budget. Actually I don't think I've even gotten the opportunity to spend as I believe you need to "unlock" it via attention points first (please correct me if i'm wrong).

Is this true and is also the norm?

what division? it possibly is a sign you are shooting a bit too low but also, plenty of guys get signed without a battle, without really having to spend much. perhaps someone who plays whatever division you play could evaluate the recruits and give you some insight. if you post a couple here i am sure someone will get back to you, albeit probably not me because im guessing its not d1 you are talking about and i haven't played the others in 3.0.

Thanks Gillispie1...........I'm playing D3

At D3 I sign most of my guys without using any cash at them. You only have cash to engage in one battle and even a lot of the time you can't go all in on that battle because you simply can't afford 20 HVs.

Yeah, as I mentioned......I didn't even get close (from a % unlocked perspective) of being able to even do a home, campus visit, promise time, etc.

Have you offered a scholarship? Have you unlocked one?

Yeah, ironically it let me offer a scholarship despite only being like 50% or below (unlocked) on all the recruiting actions.

So, after you offered the scholarship and after it processed, didn’t it get your % for HV and promises pretty close to unlocking?

No..........never saw the % get to unlocked status for recruiting actions. And obviously once that player accepted the schools, there was no need to show that data or even to do some form of recruiting action.

At D3 I hold off spending money until second cycle recruiting. Then only to hold off D2 schools that are at moderate or low and I am at moderate.

Most players at D2 and D3 don't require cash unless you are battling a team of the same division.

i think a scholarship usually unlocks HV - however, i am not 100% on this. i know a d3 school can have to drop a good 800 AP into a 5*, but i doubt its anywhere close for real d3 targets (i only did some recruiting experimentation with a d3 school, and not regular recruiting - i've never even half played a 3.0 d3 team).

anyway, i do know a ship is worth 125-150AP in terms of unlocking a HV (or promises/CV), that seems like you'd have to be going after REALLY high end players not to have a ship unlock a HV. if you spent 100ap unlocking the ship, the ship would unlock the HV - i know it can be higher for d3 schools, but is it really that high? i know i hit some low d3 players and they weren't too much. but i'm curious. how many AP does it take a d3 school to unlock most of their normal targets, high d2 / low d1 players?

Gillispie, since this was my first time playing in years, i was really experimenting just to learn. I was allocating my attention points over a good number of recruits. I was literally spreading 5-6 per D3 recruits......and maybe 15-20 on some D2 recruits each cycle. So maybe the D2 recruits I was chasing needed a lot more "love" than i was sending......i don't think i hit 100 points total with any recruit (D2 and not even close on D3) so maybe that was it.

Question - it appears you can do some recruiting towards the end of the season now in 3.0. Does that include throwing out Attention Points also? And if so, do they carry over to the "pre-season" recruiting period?
