the MEAC is a pretty cool conference, a good group of guys with an active CC. success wise, the conference has only been pretty full for a handful of seasons and is still on the way up - but for the past 3 seasons, we've been roughly tied with the bottom BCS conference. i co-coach the delaware state team with chap (he does most of it but i help!). i think the conference is a great fit for those looking for a mid to long term gig and for an active CC and a fun, competitive conference.
if you are looking for a low major to spend some time building, learning the craft of d1, with the goal of eventually landing a bigger job - like with the main goal being to get better, with a long term goal of building a strong resume you can use to land a quality BCS gig - i think this conference is an excellent fit. to get a quality BCS job, a B range prestige job or higher, you need to build a pretty successful mid major program and be able to get solid NT seeds so you can win a NT game or two here and there. simai conferences are not good for that!
our conference is NOT a good fit for someone looking to get a BCS job as fast as possible. if you are looking to sneak in to the BCS with a D+ to C prestige BCS job, you are probably best off looking for an empty conference where you can build a 75-100th best in the country type team, and get NT bids via CT wins. those caliber teams will not win the CT in our conference.
of course, if someone is looking for a long term home for a mid major, this should also be a great fit! building a high end d1 NT team with d+ baseline prestige is one of 3.0's more interesting challenges, and those who succeed are highly esteemed by the community! if you want to give it a shot, our conference is a perfect place to do it!
