Wondering if anyone has some insight. I have a junior guard that has appeared in 11 games (it is the CT now) all season and averaged 5 minutes per game in those 11 games. He has lost 23 WE so far this season.

He sent me an initial angry email, and then followed up with another one when his minutes did not improve.

I am really hoping he transfers out. My questions are

What are the odds he actually transfers?

Do transfers go through before or after early entries?

I already have 4 departures on this year's team. Another player is #1 on the draft board and likely gone. I have a couple others that might leave early as well. If this player transfers, would that cap my departures at 6, and prevent anyone else from going early?

I havent seen or heard of any non-freshmen transfers in 3.0. He’ll be back, unless you cut him. Transfers happen at the same time as early entries. Theoretically, if a player was to voluntarily leave, like if he was a freshman for whom you broke promises, my understanding is that it would limit your EE exposure.

hmm, i wonder if it might have changed in 3.0 - but i also haven't heard anything to that effect. i do think there was a change at some point in HD history to lower non-freshman minutes expectations to make it easier to juggle, but i don't think this was at 3.0 time. anyway, in the olden days, the answer was low single digits or less. just about all i can recall is long time coaches saying yeah, ive had dozens of these, but i've only ever lost (0 or 1). its just a really unlikely crapshoot. i believe i've had 1 quit out of 50ish?

or perhaps 3.0 changed but i think that would be documented somewhere, or someone could say like yeah, that was confirmed to be changed... or something. so i'm guessing its just really unlikely like it always was so it gets very little publicity.

to your other question - now that is an interesting one. i'm not sure that broken promises count towards the 6 at all, so it might be moot? i kind of think promise quits happen first, EEs second. but i am skeptical those guys count at all. i really don't know. perhaps in a couple hours something will come to me, if so i'll check back.
