I may have to go after both but hoping to get one. Which guard do you recruit?

BH - 33 (green)
P - 52 (orange)
WE - 53 (black)
ST - 72 (black)

Player 2 5'11"

I'd like to say neither, you should be able to find better. If you have to take one it is player 2, player 1's defense isn't good enough. But again, neither of these players should be recruited in my opinion. Also, height doesn't matter in this game, simply window dressing. Feel free to sitemail me with questions.

Thanks for the response. Can you be a little more specific? I'm in my 3rd season at a DIII school and I'm trying to figure out the balance between ath/de and perimeter scoring (or low post scoring for bigs). I've had fairly good success recruiting bigs with decent athleticism and defense but haven't found many wings or point guards with the same type of athleticism and defensive numbers.

The first player listed above is DIII projected and the 2nd player is DII projected. But the DIII player has huge upside in perimeter scoring and I'd probably redshirt him his first year. Both players are low on defensive rating but have a little room to grow.

You would avoid these players even at DIII?

In the future avoid both. I wouldn't scout d3, just d2 and d1. If you don't see anybody better though 2 is the better option. In general I look for athleticism speed potentials that will sum to 130 or more. Of course great guard skills can make this number drop a bit. Take a look at my Colorado or California tech teams if you'd like to see the guards I get.

I'm with Piman. This ath/de doesn't fly in DIII without a super good spd/per/bh combo.

Player 1 doesn't have the speed and player 2 doesn't have the PER to be a great scorer even, and they will *stink* at defense.

@tiweav01 listen to piman.
Also, his Cal Tech team is one of the all-time legendary Hoops Dynasty teams, so don't feel like you need to match exactly that right of the bat.
But it will certainly be a good road map of skills to target!
