Minor Annoyances/Change Suggestions Topic

These are just a few things I've wished existed or found myself annoyed by from time to time. I know this game is essentially running on fumes and likely none of this will get changed, but I'd like to get some feedback from other players on similar issues you'd like to see fixed/revisited. In no particular order:

1. Player Game Plan screen: Allow coaches to see the potential growth colors for their players' attributes. I occasionally have a player with a relatively low PE rating(but green potential) and am OK with them jacking more 3s than a player with the same # rating with a yellow or red potential. It shouldn't require going to another page to see this information.

When using "Current Stats" tab to do player game planning, it would be nice to have an expanded set of stats to view. At minimum, TOs per game and 3FG%. Again, these aren't secrets. They're just on another page so you have to do an unnecessary back and forth to get the info you want. Also, if we can have words(Leave in Longer, Normal, etc...) to describe the different Foul Trouble settings, why can't we for the 3 PT. tendency? What +1, +2, etc... mean is available on the site, but again, you have to go digging. Make it easy for new guys.

2. Recruiting: Stop hiding the player attribute potential colors after a recruit signs with another team. I scouted the guy, and I can always find his ratings/potential from the categorized recruit page. It's not like this information is secret. The game just makes it more annoying to locate. Anyone with a season or two under their belt knows how to find it. I'm guessing this has something to do with signed players' ratings be revealed to everyone, so it's just easier to hide the ratings colors from everyone than to allow only those who scouted them to continue to see them from the player's profile. Still, it's silly.

3. Transfers: Make all transfers fully scouted for everyone. Again, if you have some experience, it's very easy to track down the ratings info for transfers without spending anything on scouting.

4. Practice Plan: Allow offense/defense practice minutes to be allocated on a per player basis. Having 6 upperclassmen with 6 freshmen and having to apply O/D practice minutes to the whole team to get the young guys caught up wastes a lot of practice minutes that could be used getting upperclassmen maxed all the way out. This system also devalues transfers/JUCOs. I rarely ever recruit a JUCO who doesn't already know my O/D, because I won't have enough time to get them to a good rating before they graduate. It would be nice to be able to recruit a stud JUCO and then have them hammer the playbook to get up to speed on the offense and defense.

I'm sure there are some unintended consequences for "fixing" the things I mention above. Feel free to call me stupid and let me know about those.

I'm 100% with you on #3. At a minimum...make all transfers *visible* to everyone easily a la the real life transfer portal.

I have no problem with your first three items, especially #3. Since experienced users know how to find this information, it is just another area where new players are at a disadvantage.

I definitely disagree with #4 though because that's not how real basketball practice works. In order to really learn an offensive or defensive set you really need the whole team to be involved. Unlike free throws you can't tell the new guy to go over to the corner of the gym and practice running the Triangle.

I've heard some people complain that there isn't enough merchandise to buy in the store, but I think those people need reminding that if people bought a WIS shirt and wore it outside their home that would count as advertising and WIS is strictly against advertising.

I understand what you're saying, but trying to make everything conform to what real basketball is like is a slippery slope.

Durability means nothing in this game. In real life, some people are injury prone. I haven't been near as long as some, but I've only had 1 major injury that I can recall and maybe 2 minor injuries that cost my guys a couple games. As a Louisville fan that saw our team go through enough concussions in 2013 that some players started wearing helmets to practice...WIS is not realistic at all in this regard.

I see your point and it's a fair one. Maybe a hybrid method could work where a player could go from F to D without the team practice minutes. I agree that you can't really learn a O/D system just by reading a book or playbook. But, you definitely can pick up the fundamentals, which is what I'm suggesting with the player being able to go from F to D or D+ just via individual practice minutes.

What should really happen in HD 3.1 is the first 3 points up there, and that 50-70 recruits should be "diamonds in the rough" like in HBD and have a major ratings glow-up at some point between the 1st/2nd sessions. Seems like a great way to fix EEs and add a little fun to the game. Would improve recruiting vastly IMO.

I like all of these but am especially fond of #1, such an annoying small thing.

I’ve long thought there should be an option for video study, or something like that, for guys who need a boost in IQ.

maybe it gets 1/2 or even 1/3 of the results that team practice gets, but at least it’s something to do with those wasted practice minutes.

One thing I'd like to see is the option to have specific defensive assignments for man-to-man defense. It'd be nice to be able to have my player X always guard opponent's player Y. I know this isn't an issue most of the time, but especially at D1, there are times it feels like it's a guessing game on which position each player is going to play.

I've always thought this was a HUGE issue for HD. In the game, the offense dictates "who is on who". Not the defense. That makes no sense. It's been mentioned that everybody would play M2M because it would be extra powerful if this were the case. But it's a numbers game. They could make it work correctly in the engine by weighting things correctly. In the same manner they have everything else
