Moving to D2 after one season Topic

I know that it’s been posted multiple times how easy it is to move from D3 to D2 after one season in a world. Has anyone had it not be an automatic qualification for D2? Had a bad team in D3 in a full conference and was hoping to move up but it’s showing not qualified for any D2 team. Went 7-21 with a 250+ RPI. I know this isn’t a very good resume to move up but it seemed to be almost automatic from what I’ve read. Any help would be appreciated!

Wow, i've never seen that. Sometimes A+ schools in D2 aren't available, but for 95% of schools you should get the job.

Yeah that was my thinking as well. I’m getting ready to send in a ticket, if I’m not qualified maybe they can help clarify why I’m not.

I'm in a conference with a bunch of my friends and a number of them had really bad seasons in their first season and didn't have any DII jobs available to them.

I've went back and forth with seble on this issue A LOT this week actually. I've always been under the assumption that one season of D3 gets you to D2. But I've been helping some new guys along the way, and they told me they were only eligible for a handful of jobs.

So I sent multiple tickets, although seble responded, he was super vague. I asked for specifics and he'd continue to give me vague responses. He also made it seem as if no changes have been made, and I was the one that was wrong in thinking that a coach is eligible for all D2 jobs. And he says it's always been the way it is now

I do NOT believe him at all. I've always gone straight to D2. But I've went back and forth with him a lot. We're talking this week and last week. Not months ago

I remember back when I first started that going from D3 to D2 wasn't a given after a single season, especially if that single season was a particularly poor one. It "felt" like something changed along the way to allow nearly everyone to promote after one season but it may have just been my imagination as well.

what you are remembering was a very explicit and very substantial change, assuming we are remembering the same thing. it used to be a challenge.. or something vaguely close to it, at least, to go d3->d2 in a single season.

its always been this way dogg. since the last change (~7+ years), awful d3 seasons are not enough to get you to d2, and before that it wasn't even a question (not even close). i tend to use random d3 teams for 1 season for experiments and typically i dont even put in a lineup. so its like half the players aren't even listed and those teams go like 3-24 or some crap and are basically not qualified. i have a resume right now from a couple seasons of doing that, that shows qualified for exactly one d2 job.

You should take that D2 job, gil. It's meant to be.

Here is yet another data point. It it baffling to me that some people refuse to accept this. How much more proof do we need? If a coach is not able to move up to D2 after a single really bad season at D3 then THE JOBS PROCESS IS BROKEN!

the funny thing is i need to do a study at d2 and that's my target world, and i was like, man i hope i qualify. literally 1 team. so i am actually planning on taking it here soon - i dont want to reserve as i want session 2 to start gathering data. so hopefully nobody takes it, like on a quest for the worst team in the game to maximize the necessarily rebuild!

I believe we are remembering the same thing. At least if I'm going crazy I'm not the only one!

What are you talking about? I'm not saying I don't believe it. I obviously see it for what it is. That is the reason i sent the ticket and asked the question. Nobody is "refusing to accept this".

My point was that I've never known their was a threshold. And I felt like it was always just one season no matter the outcome. So i guess up until this very last D3 team I had, all of mine were good (allowing me to not have to worry about being snubbed by D2).

What I said I didn't believe, was that it's always been that way. And as (I think) gil started, like 10 years ago, it wasn't. So nothing I said is wrong. All I added was info from the conversation I had with seble, for the community to read.
