You don't think that in the process of scheduling the event, SOMEONE would have said, "Hey, Trump, maybe don't hold a rally in TULSA on JUNETEENTH!"

No decision is just made instantly, without consideration. How many people would have to sign off on the rally being held that day? You think none of them understood the symbolism in holding a rally in Tulsa on Juneteenth?

Stephen Miller.

Absolutely. No way there wasn't intent in the decision.

He also sounds like a bloated, windbag of pseudo-intelligence, over-confidence and has a seriously inflated sense of self worth. Other than that...swell guy.

Oh, I'm sure somebody said something. And he was like "what? who cares?" And then told them to move ahead.

Trump is not exactly known for taking advice from others, even his own team.

I already said in the other thread that I think he's clearly interested in appealing to the racist vote. I'm just saying his personal level of involvement here may be limited. I'm generally pretty quick to give him a pass on things that he'd need to be smart/knowledgeable to do. Same argument I made on Russian election interference - I don't think he had much, if any, personal involvement. I always found it odd that the same people who were calling him dumb 18 times a day somehow thought he masterminded a massive international election fraud. Also don't think he masterminded this. He's really dumb.

Looking back at this, I think my use of the words "give him a pass" was imprecise. Doing bad things because you don't know better, when you have access to the means to know better, isn't ok. I just don't necessarily assume bad intent.

I do. Both can be true. Trump is undoubtedly an idiot, but he's also a racist idiot. If someone told Trump "Hey, this rally is going to be seen as insensitive" and he ignored them, it's not only ignorant, but malicious.

In the case of Russia, of course he was no criminal mastermind, but he was also complicit with everything that happened. It's damning on both ends.

I mean, doesn't anyone remember his campaign slogan from 2016? He's obviously a racist (and sexist and transphobe)
